Each session includes:
Optional Services:
If you have had headhsots produced with another photographer, and are looking to have them updated, they offer a good starting point for use to work with. Bring them along to show me what you would change, what you like and what you don't like about them
I accept cash, money order, and PayPal. PayPal is subject to a minor transaction fee of 3%
Please have your hair taken care of on the day of the shoot if it is central to the image you're looking to create. The makeup artist and I are available for periodic touchups and adjustments, but if your hair requires greater attention, please have it professionally addressed before the shoot. Bring a brush and whatever hair products you typically use, as well as something to put it up if you like
If you are having headshots produced for a corporate or industrial environment, please bring a dark suit jacket, tie, and conservative, solid shirt. Ideally you will have the shirt ironed beforehand, but there is a steamer in the studio if needed.
What kind of clothes should I bring?
Bring solids, not patterns, rich colors and a few muted near-monotone shades as well. Stay away from absolute black and white, instead going for charcoal grey -- white tops too often compete with your face. Stay away from overly loud stuff. For women, warm pastels can't hurt
Textures like cable-knits and ribbed fabrics can add a nice dimension to a picture -- bring them if you've got them
You know what they say -- if it doesn't sell, paint it red? I always recommend at least one item that's a deep reddish hue as an option -- burgundy or burnt brick red. It's almost never wrong
Button down, collared shirts are an option, but generally speaking I steer people toward pull over shirts or sweaters with great necklines
If you like a piece of clothing, but are unsure whether it will work or not -- bring it anyway
Music?
Feel free to bring what gets you relaxed and comfortable. I have music I always bring along, too, so between the both of us we'll have plenty of listening options.
Simple. Direct. Warm.
If I had to sum up my "style," I'd say my goal is to keep my style out of the way of your natural qualities. Think of your headshots as you, but on your best day. That's our goal.
And to that end, we're in this together. It's a collaborative thing, and I want you to feel you've got a hand in guiding the experience. If you'd rather just run with my ideas and take direction, I'm OK with that, too.
Headshots can range in expression from stoic to happy, but they must be consistently sincere, communicating depth beyond the printed page. It is your ability to project that evocative something that will keep people's attention when glancing at your shots -- and it's my job to capture this accurately.
I encourage potential subjects, should they feel the need, to setup a pre-shoot appointment to meet me and get a sense of my personality and working method. I'm happy to set these meetings up.
